Features

Two Types of Mounting Threads

End holes in these stainless-steel optical posts are available with two types of mounting threads, for the PS-T: ¼-20 (M6) in both ends and the PS-E: 8-32 (M4) in both ends. They may be threaded directly into an optical table, converted to a pedestal with a pedestal base adapter, or stacked on other 1.0 in. pedestals or posts to achieve customizable height.

PS-T Optical Posts for Stable and Versatile Mounting

The PS-T optical posts are made from solid stainless steel with index grooves spaced 1 in. (25.4 mm) apart for visibly discerning post heights. These posts have 1/4-20 (M6) threaded ends and therefore can be threaded directly into an optical table, or with a pedestal base adapter or slotted base, be mounted anywhere on the optical table. They are also compatible with the Q-TMS Series post holders if quick height adjustment is required.

PS-E Multifunctional Extension Posts

The PS-E extension posts are made from solid stainless steel with index grooves spaced 1 in. (25.4 mm) apart for visibly discerning post heights. These posts have 8-32 (M4) threaded holes in each end and include a pre-installed screw. They are normally used as extenders allowing you to add several inches in height to 1.0 in. optical pedestals easily. They can also mount to optical table or breadboard with a (M-) PS-1T table mount adapter or 9904 magnetic pedestal base adapter.

Cross-Drilled Hole for Easy Tightening and Loosening

These posts feature a 0.234 in. (5.9 mm) diameter cross-drilled hole. By inserting a 3/16 in. (5 mm) hex wrench (or similar tool) into this hole, it can be used to easily rotate the post to tighten it into or loosen it from the optical table, or attach or detach a post extender or optical mount on its top.

Post and Peg System with Unmatched Versatility

PS-T optical posts are compatible with unique peg adapter post (M-PS-1P to combine the best utility with unmatched versatility for any optics lab. This Post and Peg system, made from solid stainless steel components, allows opto-mechanical component to be precisely installed and removed without changing its location within an optical setup.

Accessories for Customizable Heights and Architectures

Post spacers can be used to precisely tune the mounting height of optical posts, allowing optics to be mounted at non-standard heights. To facilitate flexible mounting and stacking of optical posts, 8-32 (M4) to ¼-20 (M6) thread adapters are available. Post clamps provide the option of securing an optical mount at any position and any angle to a post. 45-degree mirror mount adapters allow a mirror mount to be post-pointed at a fixed 45° pitch angle, which is ideal for periscope applications. And for versatile, high-stability mounting in multiple dimensions, our modular construction cubes are the best choice.

LaserClean™ Low VOC Versions Available

Many laser-based applications require extra care to reduce volatile organic compounds (VOC) and ensure added cleanliness. VOCs and other contaminates can deposit on to optical surfaces causing degradation in output power, beam quality, and wavelength. Newport now offers certain Opto-Mechanical components that are specially prepared with clear anodize, nickel plating or stainless steel materials, special lubrication and vacuum-level cleaning. Products are packaged in Class 1000 (ISO 6) cleanroom grade bagging material and then double-bagged for further cleanliness precautions. We call these products, LaserClean™ and designate them with a -LC suffix. For more information please visit LaserClean Low VOC Optical Components Page.
