Features

600 and 1000 W QTH Lamp Options

The 6336 600 W and 6317 1000 W QTH lamps are offered with these light sources.

FEL Standard Lamp Offered

An FEL lamp is an ANSI standard 1000 W QTH lamp with a two pin base. The 6315 lamp is categorized as an FEL type. Lamp model 63350 is a NIST-traceable calibrated FEL source which can be used as an irradiance standard, making it ideal for the calibration of a photometer, light meter, spectrophotometer, or similar light measurement device.

High Stability Power Supply

The OPS-Q1000 power supply provided with these light sources is a highly regulated power supply. Much of a QTH lamp's stability in wavelength and output intensity is due to keeping the temperature and pressure of the halogen gas inside the lamp's envelope as constant possible. The OPS-Q1000 power supply provides highly stable current to the filament of the lamp, keeping the lamp's ripple to less than 0.05% rms while maximizing the lifetime of the lamp.

All Necessary Components for Lamp Operation Included

Each light source includes a QTH lamp, appropriate socket adapter, lamp housing interconnection cable, power supply, and Research Lamp Housing. After a quick and easy assembly, the light source is ready for use and easily integrated into a user's setup. The lamp housings offered with these light source kits are capable of operating all 600-1000 W QTH lamps. This allows the user to interchange lamps in their setup simply by replacing the lamp and socket adapter (if necessary) in their lamp housing.

F/1, Single Element Plano Convex Condenser Lens Option

Two different Research Lamp Housings are offered with these light sources. Oriel's Research Lamp Housings are designed to focus the output light of the lamp to the user's needs while providing an ideal environment for lamp operation and user safety.

  • A built in temperature sensor and cooling fan prevents overheating of the lamp during operation
  • A rear reflector built inside the lamp housing reflects back scatter radiation from the lamp. The collimating lens assembly on each Research Lamp Housing is used to ensure the lamp is properly aligned within the housing and optimally focus the light output to the user’s needs
  • If the lamp housing door is not firmly secured to the lamp housing or a lamp housing interconnection cable is not firmly secured to its connector, the lamp inside will not ignite or supply voltage and current to the lamp will not be supplied. This protects the user from accidental exposure to UV radiation and high voltage during ignition and operation of the lamp.
Choose the 66885 if the Oriel 2 inch flange series and a 48 mm diameter, collimated light output is desired. The condenser lens of the 66921 contains a Plano Convex lens. Plano Convex lenses use an asymmetric shape to minimize spherical aberration. The 66885 also has a greater f/# than the 66886 option mentioned below. A lamp housing with a higher f/# should be used if an output beam of better uniformity characteristic is required, such as coupling the lamp housing to the input slit of a monochromator.
