Battery Biased Fiber-Optic DetectorsThe 818-BB-51F High Speed Battery Biased Fiber-Optic Detector features an extended InGaAs photodiode with a 40 um active diameter and a <28 ps rise time coupled to a Corning singlemode SMF-28e fiber with an FC/UPC connector. With the wavelength range of 830-2150 nm, it allows monitoring Thulium (Tm) and Holmium (Ho) doped lasers as well as other NIR lasers. It includes a built-in battery-powered 3V bias, an on-off switch, and an SMA connector output. The photodetectors have an internal 50 Ω termination. As the responsivity data is applicable to the diode only, the detector output should be determined based on 1/2 the responsivity of that shown on graph. The batteries are easily replaceable, and by disconnecting the detector from the oscilloscope input, when not in use, you can extend the lifetime of the batteries. It is equivalent to Coherent's Model ET-5000F (P/N 120-10104-0001).
Extended InGaAs Fiber-Optic Detectors
The 818-BB-51F features a high speed 0.04 mm diameter battery biased Extended InGaAs photodetector with an extended wavelength range of 1475 to 2100 nm allowing monitoring of Thulium (Tm) and Holmium (Ho) doped lasers and other NIR lasers. The detector is coupled to a 1 meter singlemode SMF 28e fiber with a FC/UPC connector.
DC to 12.5 GHz Bandwidth
All of these high speed battery biased fiber-optic detectors offer a 3 dB bandwidth from DC to 12.5 GHz. The Frequency response of the 818-BB-51F is shown below.
Measure Pulsewidth or Frequency Response
These high speed detectors make a great fiber-optic front end for a scope or spectrum analyzer. When terminated into 50Ω into an oscilloscope, the pulse width of a laser can be measured. When terminated into a spectrum analyzer, the frequency response of a laser can be measured.
Optical Post Mounting
An 8-32 threaded hole at the bottom of 818-BB biased photoreceivers allows for optical post mounting.
