Microelectronics & Semiconductor Capital Equipment

Two well-recognized dynamics of the Microelectronics market are Moore’s Law and the historically cyclical demand. Those key components drive the focus of Newport’s support to customers in the Microelectronics market.

The path to sustaining Moore’s Law continuously demands higher performance optical systems to produce smaller feature sizes. Newport meets those demands with engineering and manufacturing capabilities aligned with the evolution to shorter wavelengths (UV - DUV - VUV - EUV), higher precision optical surfaces, higher performance thin-film coatings, tighter environmental and process control for minimizing photocontamination, and novel assembly, integration and testing processes. Time-to-market expectations are also influenced by Moore’s Law. Newport’s engineering team works as an extension of the customer’s engineering team to shorten time to market. Rapid prototyping capabilities are part of Newport’s shortened time-to-market solution as well.

Cyclical demand requires the ability to ramp quickly in the upturns and scale-back efficiently in downturns. Newport has exhibited those abilities, over and over again, in nearly 20 years as a supplier to the Microelectronics and Semiconductor Capital Equipment market. Comprehensive program management working in close communication with customer’s guides through the cycles utilizing advanced material and workforce management approaches.
