Plastic Optical FibersThe F-POF-1000-C step index multimode plastic optical fiber features a core diameter of 1000µm. The fluorinated polymer cladding material makes the cable more flexible than it's glass counterparts. A 2.18mm outer jack provides additional strength and environmental protection. A high numerical aperature of .58 allows for greater coupling efficiencies while making these fibers optimal for applications requiring tight bending or coiling of fibers. Typical applications include medical, industrial, and avionic snesors and instruments. The operating temperature of the F-POF-1000-C is -40°C to +85° C.

Large Core Diameter
Larger core diameters make Plastic Optical Fibers allow for mechanically robust coupling of light sources into the fiber. Glass fibers with large core diameters would be too stiff for most applications.
