Polarization Maintaining Optical Fiber, Erbium Doped, PM EDFAs

Polarization Maintaining Erbium doped fiber for PM EDFAs and ASE light sources. Mfg. P/N: DHB1500 Matched to MetroGain M-12 fiber. Polarization extinction levels of up to -30 dB/m over typical gain lengths of 8 – 14 meters Designed for 980 nm pumping.
This bare fiber does not include a protective fiber jacket. Standard pricing is per meter. The following volume discount schedule is applied when ordering continuous lengths of optical fiber: 10 - 49 m: 15%, 50 - 99 m: 22%, 100 - 499 m: 25%, and ≥ 500 m: 28%.
Bow-Tie Polarization Maintaining Design
The core is flanked by areas of high expansion, boron-doped glass, which shrink back more than the surrounding silica. Tension caused induces birefringence (creating two different indices of refraction: a higher index parallel and a lower index perpendicular to the applied stress).
High Birefringence
“Bow-Tie” cladding preserves polarization with stress-induced intrinsic birefringence. The fast axis is oriented horizontally.
Fibercore uses ‘Bow-Tie’ Stress Applying Parts (SAPs) to create birefringence in the core. The design of these highly efficient SAPs generate very high birefringence without excessive stress, allowing polarization orientation to be controlled effectively across a fiber system. The ‘Bow-Tie’ design is capable of creating more birefringence than any other stressed design. This is simply because it is based on two opposing wedges, the most simple and efficient means of applying stress to a point.
