Q: Do I use 1938-R and 2938-R to place an order?
A: No. Please use their respective part numbers, 7Z01705 and 7Z01706.
Q: Are 1938-R and 2938-R compatible with the 1936-R/2936-R computer commands?
A: Yes. 1938-R/2938-R are compatible with both the 1936-R/2936-R commands, even though certain commands are no longer available. Please refer to the command manual to review the complete list of the available 1936-R/2936-R style commands. Also, please be informed that 1938-R/2938-R are compatible with the 844-PE-USB/843-R-USB commands.
Q: Are the digital filters available in 1936-R/2936-R no longer available with 1938-R/2938-R?
A: In x938-R, the digital filters are now available as the 'Averaging' function.
Q: The 1938-R/2938-R power meters have 'Power Density (W/cm2)' measurements available. Can I use the sensor with the active area for power density or irradiance measurements?
A: Our standard detectors can be used for power density measurements for relatively well defined beams. However, it is not recommended to use the full sensor active area in the measurements, because the responsivity changes at the edge of the photodiode. Instead, place a small aperture of a known size to make sure that all the beam falls well within the sensor, and enter the aperture size in the power meter. For the irradiance measurement of a diverging or Lambertian light source, we recommend 818-RAD (P/N 7N6080A) with its compatible power meter.
