Q: Does the bottom of a standard optical table top or breadboard have holes for mounting the earthquake restraints?
A: Standard optical table top or breadboard doesn't feature holes to mount the earthquake restraints. The earthquake restraints require holes to be drilled and tapped into the bottom surface of optical tables for attachment. If you are purchasing a new optical table with earthquake restraints, please notify your Newport representative so that this special feature can be added to the table. You will then be provided with a unique part number for ordering purposes. To add earthquake restraints to the existing optical table in your lab, table and floor interface templates are provided for you to drill and tap the holes. Please refer to the manual for instructions.
